Leila Heller -Dubai Gallery

This 20,000 SF Gallery is located in the recently completed Alserkal Avenue’s art district and creative warehouse area of Dubai’s industrial area. Occupied by many galleries it has become the cultural hub of Dubai. The Space is in a Corner building with access roads from two sides and great visibility.

Here we envision the architecture of a gallery to be no longer be a neutral box. A new gallery would be an innovative space responding to the new mediums and definitions of art. A place where the public can be challenged, conventions examined and ideas presented. It’s architecture reflects the notion of flexibility, possibilities, and inclusiveness through its spatial complexity and technological integration. It is a total environment that stimulates art, enhances our experience and vision.

Upon arrival the visitors are welcomed by an origamic reception desk within a dynamic space exhibiting a sculptural calligraphic stairwell in glass.

The skylights above the stair flood the entry with natural light. A large 5500 square feet galley is on the left with a double height and a viewing platform accessed from the stairwell. This main gallery has skylights and 20’ high walls for exhibiting large paintings and sculptures. A smaller Gallery occupies the right side of the entrance hall while the viewing/video gallery is in the space behind the stairwell adjacent to a special gallery with a seating area for a moment of rest and reflection.

A bookstore/gift shop is also located at the entrance hall with a direct access from the street offering books, art & accessories to all visitors.

The upper Level has a 2500 SF gallery that is at the same time the private viewing room. All staff offices/meeting rooms & the director’s suite are on the upper level with views of the street.
