LIGHTHOUSE

This project was sponsored by Lighthouse, a volunteer agency serving the visually impaired, to raise funds for a new Child Development Center in New York City. The criteria was that the height of the lighthouse not to exceed twenty inches, and the diameter of the base not exceeding twelve inches and the structure not requiring electrical wiring.

This lighthouse is about site and structure, man and nature. it is sited on top of a brownstone rock, giving light and guidance via its tactonic attribute to those deprived of sight.

The structure made of stainless supports a beam of sandblasted glass lit with AAA batteries representing a beacon of light flooding the night from within.
